Give Said the Little Stream, Give-a-Way, Give-a-Way!!!
The first THREE people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!2- What I create will be just for you.3- It'll be done this year. (might be a little while)4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be a joke book, autographed picture of myself, handmade bag, or a little invention of my own! I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows?5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange. Believe me... it may blow your mind! The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog. The first 3 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did, win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it! Sounds like fun, right? So, let's play!

The "Big Bang" Era
My two oldest daughters, surving "the big bang" era.Cheryl 16 and Donna 18. Aren't they cute. The look was not easy...and it took lots of hair spray. You had to hold the hair just right with your brush exactly the height you wanted, spray and then blow it dry while still holding the height with the brush. I guess I shouldn't tease (no pun intended) hehehe. I grew up in the 60s where teasing your hair was an art form in itself, and by the way, I was NOT good at. Anyway I very much enjoy the memories of helping my girls dress up and go to fancy dances. They always looked beautiful. Anyone remember this dance?
I wonder when high school girls look back to this era if it will have a name. What will we laugh about. Possibly boys pants that hang down past their butts, (how do they walk? Now that takes skill) or the "I just woke up hair do"? Maybe if I live long enough I will see bell bottom pants, mini skirts and hot pants come back in style??

Mom and Spottie
I am 4 years older than my oldest brother Buster so I remember being the youngest in the family for a long time. We lived in Modesto CA at the time this memory was made. My Mom, Dad and I lived in a small house behind my mother’s parents and two of her brothers, Blue and Darrell.Blue was in the army and Darrell was still in high school. One day Uncle Blue brought home two puppies and gave one to me. I named mine Spottie. Spottie was so cute but just a little black and white mutt. She was scared of me so it was very difficult for me to show my affection to her. Being just 3 or 4, I am sure my ideas of showing affection may have been just a little over whelming for the pup. For some reason Uncle Blue's little pup was not afraid of me and much easier to catch. I would persuade him to come to me and shortly afterward curiosity would get the most of Spottie and she would come close enough for me to apprehend. One day she wondered in the street where she got hit by a car. I remember sitting in the back seat of the car with the box Mom had put her in. Mom kept looking sadly at me and pup as she drove and as I asked questions she tried to reassure me that we were taking her to the puppy hospital where she could get well. I talked to Spottie all the way to the hospital telling her that Mom was taking her to get well. This memory of Mom's face and her expressions of concern for me and Spottie are what stand out in my memory the most now. I don't remember Spottie ever coming home but I have never forgotten the memory of Mom's concern for me and Spottie.Monday, August 25, 2008

Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time a lovely young woman(Peggy) and a handsome young man(Bruce) met and fell inlove. They married in 1947 and moved to California with Peggy's family. Dad got a job and they soon started a family which grew over the years adding two sons. Eventually they all settled in Tennessee where Dad still lives today.
